Judas Priest Shirts Being Sold for Glenn Tipton’s Parkinson’s Charity
Judas Priest is selling metal shirts for a good cause
Judas Priest guitarist Glenn Tipton recently backed off from touring extensively with the band due to his battle with Parkinson’s disease. Now, Tipton and the guys of Judas Priest are doing something special to help the fight against Parkinson’s.
Tipton and the legendary metal band have launched a new charity organization — the Glenn Tipton Parkinson’s Foundation — which is selling special T-shirts on Judas Priest’s website, JudasPriest.com. The funds raised from the sale of the T-shirts will go towards help finding a cure for Parkinson’s disease.
“It was the band that suggested we start a foundation which, although in my name, is really a Judas Priest foundation,” Tipton explained in an official statement. “We are selling T-shirts with the slogan ‘No Surrender’ (a song off the band’s newest album) which is very appropriate considering the determination you have to summon up to get on with life and beat this illness. It’s the sort of thing that always happens to ‘someone else.'”
The shirts are available for pre-order now and run $40 each. They feature a photo of Tipton playing guitar on the front and the song title “No Surrender” on the back. Those heading to an upcoming Judas Priest show will also see the shirts available for purchase there.
Funds from the T-shirts, specifically, will go towards research into a “new pioneering treatment” for Parkinson’s sufferers, Tipton explained. Tipton’s personal specialist, Dr. Peter Bain, is an expert in that field.
Tipton has thankfully been able to perform with Judas Priest at select concerts this year. “I am still doing some shows and joining the guys on stage for some songs and will carry on for as long as I can without compromising the band,” he said. “So far when I walk on stage the audience reaction has been amazing, heart-warming and quite emotional.”
Judas Priest is on the road all summer to promote their latest album, “Firepower.” Find a list of upcoming tour dates at JudasPriest.com.
