Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine Readies Solo Album, ‘The Atlas Underground’
‘The Atlas Underground’ marks the third solo album from Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine and Prophets of Rage
Prophets of Rage is no longer touring this summer, after their run with Avenged Sevenfold had to be canceled due to vocalist M. Shadows’ voice needing to heal, but Prophets guitarist Tom Morello is keeping busy. Morello, who is also known as the lead guitarist for Rage Against the Machine, will release a new solo album, called “The Atlas Underground,” on Oct. 12.
“The Atlas Underground” will feature 12 tracks with a plethora of musical guests. Among the artists features on the album include Rise Against’s Tim McIlrath, Portugal. the Man, Mumford & Sons’ Marcus Mumford, K.Flay, Gary Clark Jr. and more. Two songs off the release, “Battle Sirens” and “We Don’t Need You,” have been released via digital download.
While “The Atlas Underground” is Morello’s third solo album, it’s the first Morello has released under his own name. His other solo albums were put out under the name the Nightwatchman.
