Guns N’ Roses’ Slash recorded a song with Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington, but it has yet to see the light of day

Slash has revealed some big news, when it comes to unreleased music. According to the Guns N’ Roses guitarist, he and Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington recorded a song together before Bennington’s untimely death last summer.

“When I was doing my first solo record, I worked with a lot of different people, some of whom, for whatever reason, didn’t end up on the record,” Slash explains in a new interview with Variety. “One was with Chester.”

Slash added that he made demos for the song, named “Doctor Alibi,” with Bennington, but “Linkin Park at the time didn’t allow it to happen.” Slash eventually recorded a different version of the song with Motorhead’s Lemmy Kilmister, which was included on Slash’s 2010 self-titled album.

So, will Slash’s unreleased collaboration with Bennington ever surface? Slash explains that he sent the demos to Bennington’s family and that “it would be totally up to them.”

“It was really good,” Slash said of the track. “(Bennington) was awesome. It would be fine with me if they wanted to (release) it. Musically it’s basically the same as the Lemmy song, but the lyrics are really poignant.”

In other news, Slash is gearing up to release his latest solo album, and the Guns N’ Roses guitarist has revealed a new, hard-rocking song called “Mind Your Manners” with his solo band, Myles Kennedy & the Conspirators. The tune is available for digital download.

“Mind Your Manners” is a track off the band’s upcoming studio album, “Living the Dream.” The album also includes the lead single “Driving Rain.” “Mind Your Manners” will arrive in full on Sept. 21 and mark Slash’s follow-up to 2014’s “World of Fire.”

Slash and Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators will embark on a U.S. headlining tour to promote “Living the Dream” starting Sept. 13 in Los Angeles.
