Smashing Pumpkins Announce New Album with Reunited Lineup
Smashing Pumpkins’ ‘Shiny and Oh So Bright, Vol. 1/LP: No Past. No Future. No Sun’ will feature original members Billy Corgan, James Iha and Jimmy Chamberlin
Hot off their Shiny and Oh So Bright U.S. tour, the reunited Smashing Pumpkins will release a new album, appropriately named “Shiny and Oh So Bright, Vol. 1/LP: No Past. No Future. No Sun,.” on Nov. 16. The album marks the first Pumpkins studio album in more than 18 years to bring together original members Billy Corgan, James Iha and Jimmy Chamberlin.
“Shiny and Oh So Bright, Vol. 1” will pack eight tracks, including the previously released song “Solara,” plus the just-released track “Silvery Sometimes (Ghosts),” which is currently available for digital download. The set was originally created as two EPs, hence the title “Vol. 1,” and is now being released as one collection of songs. Legendary music producer Rick Rubin produced the set.
Smashing Pumpkins just closed out the Shiny and Oh So Bright U.S. tour last week. Now, the alternative rockers have gigs ahead in England and Italy this fall and will be back in the U.S. later this year for a hometown concert in Chicago at the Aragon Ballroom on Nov. 30.
