Metallica, Foo Fighters and Ryan Adams to Perform at Chris Cornell Tribute Concert
Metallica, Foo Fighters and Ryan Adams will celebrate the late, great Chris Cornell with a special tribute event in January
A special Chris Cornell tribute concert is scheduled for Jan. 16 at the Forum in Los Angeles. The show, which is being called “I Am the Highway: A Tribute to Chris Cornell,” will offer performances from some of music’s biggest names, including Metallica, Foo Fighters, Metallica and Ryan Adams. Members from all of Cornell’s bands — Soundgarden, Audioslave and Temple of the Dog — are also slated to perform. Jimmy Kimmel will host the event.
“We are honored to have all these amazing artists and friends come together to pay tribute to and show their love and appreciation for Chris, his music and the mark he’s left on the world,” Cornell’s widow, Vicky Cornell, said in a statement. “We look forward to sharing this night with all the fans.”
“In May ’17 we lost one of the most unique, distinctive & game-changing voices with the passing of Chris Cornell,” added Metallica in a tweet. “Join us on January 16 at The Forum in Los Angeles as we get in on the celebration & pay tribute to a true one-of-a-kind talent.”
Tickets for “I Am the Highway” go on sale beginning at 10 a.m. PT on Friday (Nov. 16) via Ticketmaster.
In other news, also on Friday, a special, career-encompassing Chris Cornell box set will be released. The collection includes the previously unreleased Cornell solo track, “When Bad Does Good.”
