Listen to Chester Bennington’s collaboration with Lamb of God’s Mark Morton, the heavy “Cross Off”

At long last, it’s here. The long-awaited collaboration between Lamb of God guitarist Mark Morton and late Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington, recorded before Bennington passed away in July of 2017, has been released. The razor-sharp track, named “Cross Off,” is available now via digital download and streaming on YouTube.

Linkin Park’s latest studio album, 2017’s “One More Light,” drew attention from fans for it’s pop-oriented sound, which was quite a departure from traditional Linkin Park. In contrast, Cross Off” is heavy, offering up the kind of scream-laden Bennington vocals that were apparent on Linkin Park’s earlier records. The song was recorded and written by Morton, Bennington, Jake Oni and producer Josh Wilbur. Morton recorded the guitars with Paolo Gregoletto and Alex Bent of Trivium on bass and drums.

Morton initially told fans about the collaboration with Bennington back in April of 2017, but Bennginton sadly passed away by suicide three months following. Morton has been teasing the release for the song a few months now.

Morton, in a statement, says working on “Cross Off” with Bennington “was a very free-flowing and natural process. We both really loved the song from its inception and everyone that worked on it put a lot of energy and emotion into it. I feel like you can really hear that in the track, and absolutely in Chester’s performance.”

“Cross Off” marks the opening track from Morton’s upcoming studio album, “Anesthetic,” which will arrive on March 1. Bennington isn’t the only big name on the release, either. “Anesthetic” will also feature collaborations with Papa Roach’s Jacoby Shaddix, Alter Bridge frontman and Slash singer Myles Kennedy, Mark Lanegan and Lamb of God singer and bandmate, Randy Blythe.
