Slash and Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith Featured on Upcoming Don Felder Album
Some big names, including Guns N’ Roses’ Slash and Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith, are featured on the new album from former Eagles guitarist Don Felder
Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith are among the special guests featured on a new solo album from former Eagles guitarist Don Felder. The new album, titled “American Rock ‘n’ Roll,” will arrive in April.
Felder dropped the news in a new interview with Rolling Stone, explaining that both artists appear on the album’s title track. The album itself honors the history of rock ‘n’ roll music from the Woodstock era to today.
“Slash lives really close to me,” Felder said in the interview. “He came over, brought his guitar, plugged into one of my amps and we traded off on some solos. He actually plays on the part of the song that mentions Guns N’ Roses by name.”
In addition to Slash and Smith, the song starts out with Fleetwood Mac’s Mick Fleetwood playing drums. Smith enters the track behind the drum kid for the second part of the song.
“We wanted an old school Mick Fleetwood-style rock and roll pocket in the early verses,” Felder explained. “And when Chad comes in, it becomes a more more modern, hard-rocking Chili Peppers kind of feel.”
“American Rock ‘n’ Roll,” the song, is available for streaming now via RollingStone.com.
The upcoming album will also feature guest appearances from former Van Halen singer Sammy Hagar and famed guitarist Joe Satriani, both of whom perform with Smith in Chickenfoot. The Grateful Dead’s Bob Weir also appearso on the set.
“American Rock ‘n’ Roll” will hit stores on April 5.
