Poppy to Perform Free Concert at San Diego Comic Con
Poppy has scheduled a free show at the San Diego Comic Con in honor of her new graphic novel, “Genesis 1,” out via Z2 Comics
Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter and YouTube star Poppy will perform a free concert at the famed San Diego Comic Con next month in honor of the release of her first-ever graphic novel, “Genesis 1.” The show will take place on Thursday, July 18th, at 7 p.m. at The Quartyard. For information on attending the concert and to sign up for free tickets, go here.
“Genesis 1” is written by Poppy, Titanic Sinclair and Ryan Cady and drawn by Masa Minoura and Ian McGinty, and the colorful novel tells the mysterious story of Poppy and her origin. “The story of the graphic novel is as much of a mystery as the icon Poppy herself is,” a statement reads. “Is she a girl? Is she a machine? Is she humanity’s redemption, or its damnation?”
The original graphic novel arrives via Z2 Comics and is available via Amazon here. Previous Z2 Comics collaborations include work with Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys, DJ Paul Oakenfold, jazz trumpeter Dave Chisholm, Japanese metal band Babymetal and more.
In other Poppy news, the artist recently shared the track list for her much-anticipated “Choke” EP, as well as the title track. “Choke” pairs dark, gloomy lyrics with pop music and even some metal flourishes. Listen to the song below. The full EP drops tomorrow (June 28). The song “Scary Mask” off the set features rock band FEVER 333.
