Goo Goo Dolls Release Splashy New Music Video for ‘Miracle Pill’
Watch the new music video for Goo Goo Dolls’ “Miracle Pill,” which frontman John Rzeznik says is about “the instant gratification and relief we seek from our own circumstances”
Longstanding pop-rockers Goo Goo Dolls have released the official music video for their new single, “Miracle Pill.” The song is the first taste of new music off the band’s upcoming, new album, also called “Miracle Pill,” which will arrive on Warner Records this fall. Watch the video, which premiered via Billboard, below.
“Miracle Pill” features Goo Goo Dolls lead vocalist and guitarist John Rzeznik and bass player and vocalist Robby Takac rocking out in a pure, white room. After taking a “miracle pill,” the white walls start begin to turn to a bright technicolor paint, eventually creating a major mess.
“‘Miracle Pill’ is a metaphor for the instant gratification and relief we seek from our own circumstances,” Rzeznik said in a statement. “Are your sad? Take a pill. Are you lonely? Get popular on social media. The fact of the matter is no one has 50 friends much less 5,000.”
He added, “I’m just trying to articulate my observations of the second decade of the 21st Century, with all its angst, avarice, confusion and insecurities. We are inundated by bulls***, cheap shiny objects, and false solutions to every problem and desire we have. I have no answers to these questions but I don’t believe hero worship, life hacks, short cuts and escapism are the answers. I just want to make a real connection with real people in real time.”
In other news, Goo Goo Dolls are on the road this summer on a major co-headlining amphitheater tour with Train. The tour is hitting outdoor concert venues across North America and will wrap up with a date Aug. 17 in Mansfield, Massachusetts. Goo Goo Dolls will also hit South America later this year, including a performance at the famed Rock in Rio in Rio de Janeiro. Find the band’s full list of upcoming tour dates via GooGooDolls.com.
