Evanescence New Album Update: ‘We Definitely Have a Great Start,’ Says Amy Lee
Evanescence is working on the band’s new album, and frontwoman Amy Lee says she’s excited about what’s in store
Amy Lee and the Evanescence crew have been busy this year, both performing shows and starting work on their new album. Now, Lee has shared an update on where the band stands when it comes to new music.
“We definitely have a great start and we’re planning on having the album done at some point next year,” Lee said in a new interview with Kerrang!
“We don’t have it down to a month, but we’re working on it,” she adds. “We’re writing and touring and it feels good to have multiple things going on at once.”
Evanescence has a major European tour with Dutch symphonic metal band Within Temptation lined up for 2020, as well as a new cover version of Fleetwood Mac’s “The Chain” for the “Gears 5” video game.
When it comes to performing with Within Temptation next year, Lee said, “I’ve known for a long time that we share fans because I’ve heard of this band through the internet talking and our fans talking about them. The offer came up for us to do this tour together and we’re very excited about it. It just seems to make perfect sense, and we’re all really looking forward to it.”
“It’s fun,” Lee added. “You’ve got to keep it fresh: don’t let your mind get stale or bored.”
Evanescence released the band’s “Synthesis” album in 2017, which presented re-imagined versions of popular songs from the group’s full catalog, re-recorded with electronic and orchestral flourishes. The band’s last album featuring original music 2011’s “Evanescence.”
