Corey Taylor Working on ‘Rock-Based’ Solo Album
Corey Taylor of Stone Sour and Slipknot is working on his debut solo album
Corey Taylor has kept plenty busy the past few years with his bands Stone Sour and Slipknot, but the singer and songwriter has another project up his creative sleeves. He’s working on his first-ever solo album.
Speaking with WhatCulture, Taylor says he has been working hard on his solo debut and discusses the musical direction of the set.
“It’s definitely going to be rock-based, but it’s going to be rock meets so many different things,” Taylor said. “There will be harder-edged stuff, but there also will be big, expansive, huge, world-changing guitar songs that you’re going to want to sing along to. That’s just who I am, and I’m not going to fight who I am.”
So, how far along is Taylor? He says he already has 26 songs written for the set, “and I’m not done yet.”
Taylor has been on the road with Slipknot this year, touring behind the band’s new album, “We Are Not Your Kind,” and he has more dates with Slipknot next year. The metal band will kick off a South American tour later this month and head to Europe for a slew of shows in 2020. Meanwhile, Stone Sour will release the band’s first live album on Dec. 13.
