Meet Red Voodoo, a young rock ‘n’ roll band out of California with a passion for raw, retro-sounding music
People who say the younger generation isn’t interested in rock music haven’t met Red Voodoo. The California band makes raw, earnest rock ‘n’ roll, and its band members consist of three teenagers and a 21-year-old drummer.
Now, Red Voodoo has released a new song, “Rise Up,” which was produced with Tesla guitarist Frank Hannon. Listen to the full tune below.
“We wrote ‘Rise Up’ to express our confusion and our feelings during this recent pandemic that turned the world upside down,” the band said in a statement. “With the Coronavirus (COVID-19) affecting everyone in different ways, we wanted to have a message of hope for all human beings and make people feel better. We feel that music should be a positive uplifting experience and we hope this song will help anyone ‘Rise Up!’ from feeling down.”
“Since our song ‘Rise Up’ was inspired by social distancing and the current COVID-19 crisis, we felt it would be great to give back to the health care heroes on the front lines and donate proceeds from our ‘Rise Up’ merchandise to Direct Relief,” the band added. “Rise Up” marks Red Voodoo’s debut single. The band is currently working on a full-length album.
