Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello has given 10-year-old guitar superstar Nandi Bushell his famed Fender “Soul Power” Stratocaster guitar
Tom Morello is doing his part to help the next generation of guitarists. Last month, the guitarist for Rage Against the Machine spotted a video where a 10-year-old girl named Nandi Bushell performed a cover of the Rage Against the Machine track, “Guerilla Radio,” in support of the Black Lives Matter movement. The video went viral, and now, Morello has given her a shiny new instrument for her next guitar endeavor.
After watching the passionate the video of her cover, Morello sent Bushell one of his signature Fender “Soul Power” Stratocaster guitars.
“I’d like you to have this guitar as a gift from me to you,” Morello stated in a video message to Bushell. “You rock so great, and to see someone rocking so great who is so young, it really gives me hope for the future.”
“Thank you so so so much!” Nandi wrote to Morello. “I can’t believe this is real and you actually sent me a message and your signature guitar, it is so beautiful! AMAZING! I hope we get to jam one day!”
Nandi is hardly a newbie when it comes to being in the spotlight. She showed off her drumming chops last December on “Ellen,” performing the Nirvana song, “In Bloom.”
