Chris Cornell’s Cover of Guns N’ Roses’ ‘Patience’ Gets Released in Honor of His Birthday
Listen to a never-before-released cover of Guns N’ Roses’ “Patience” form late Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell
Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell would have turned 56 today (July 20). Cornell’s passing was a great loss to the music world, but he left a wealth of music for generations of music fans to enjoy.
To celebrate his birthday, Cornell’s estate has unleashed a previously unreleased cover of the classic Guns N’ Roses song “Patience.” Listen to the full song via the YouTube player below.
“His birthday seemed the perfect time to share this and celebrate Chris, his voice, music, stories and art,” reads a statement on his official Facebook page, along with audio from the cover. “It is true a man is not dead while his name is still spoken…and, through his art, an artist’s soul still burns just as bright as ever upon all those that look up to him and his memory. Releasing music that was special to Chris keeps a part of him here with us- his heart and his soul. His love and his legacy.”
Cornell’s cover of “Patience” is also available for purchase and streaming via digital outlets.
Cornell passed away in May 2017 following a Soundgarden concert at the Fox Theatre in Detroit. He was found in his room at the MGM Grand Detroit hotel, and his death was an apparent suicide.
