Corey Taylor Already Looking Ahead to Next Solo Album
Stone Sour and Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor is gearing up to release his debut solo album, but he already has a second solo album on his mind
Corey Taylor recently announced that he’ll released his long-awaited debut solo album, “CMFT,” in the fall, but he won’t stop there. The Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman says he’s already planning a follow-up.
“I’ve got material for two other albums,” he told Kerrang! “I’ve been sitting on a lot of stuff for a long, long time, so I’m definitely prepared for it, and I’ve already got it mapped out how I will do it.”
Slipknot recently released new music, and 2021 was supposed to be a major year of touring for Slipknot. However, the band had to cancel their 2021 touring plans due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
“Once everything starts to fire back up — knock on wood — it’s probably going to be another year of touring with Slipknot, just to cover our bases and make sure we get around the world, and get to the fans,” Taylor said.
After Slipknot wraps up their touring cycle, though, Taylor says he’ll spend more time on his solo work.
“I’m gonna do more solo stuff — maybe even go in and record ‘CMFT2,'” he explained. “Ostensibly that’s’’ the plan. And then really tour, and then be able to tour on two albums.”
Taylor will release “CMFT” on Oct. 2.
