Aaron Lewis of Staind and Sully Erna of Godmack Announce Drive-In Tour
Staind’s Aaron Lewis and Godsmack’s Sully Erna are joining forces for a U.S. cross-country drive-in tour
Ever since tours were pulled off the road in March, bands have been talking about the possibility of doing drive-in concerts while fans wait for traditional shows to return. Now, Staind’s Aaron Lewis and Godsmack’s Sully Erna have announced they are teaming up for a unique drive-in event.
Lewis and Erna have will embark on a full, socially-distanced drive-in tour this fall, which will take them across the U.S. with both singers performing onstage together. The show will have the two playing a “special evening of hits, covers and conversation.”
“Me and Aaron Lewis? Onstage together…acoustic? Do I need to say more? Just don’t miss it! It may never happen again,” Erna said in a statement.
Lewis added, “Sully and I have been friends for 25 years. We’ve been talking about doing something for the last 10 years. The time has finally come. I couldn’t be more excited to be bringing this to you in such strange times.”
The tour, which was produced by festival promoter Danny Wimmer Presents (DWP), will set off on Oct. 1 and currently features 13 stops. Dates and details are subject to change based on local guidelines, and events are rain or shine.
Tickets for the drive-in shows go on sale tomorrow (Sept. 15) at noon local time here. View the full roster of tour dates below.
Since each state has its own guidelines for social distancing and mask-wearing, fans are encouraged to check local listings and guidelines carefully to know what health and safety measures will be taken at the shows.
The tour will follow current local health guidelines. Some shows will be drive-in events with patrons in or adjacent to their cars, and other shows will feature viewing from socially distanced fan “pods” or tables designed for up to four people, according to a statement.
“We’re eager to get back to what we love, and we’re determined to keep the music alive and keep the rock community strong during these times,” DWP president Joe Litvag said. “Aaron and Sully on stage together like this is something that none of us have seen before but have always hoped would happen one day. We’re thrilled to be a part of it.”
