Ace Frehley Readies ‘Origins Vol. 2,’ Releases Cover of Beatles’ ‘I’m Down’

Ace Frehley has just debuted a new version of the classic 1965 Beatles song, “I’m Down.” The track, which keeps much of the traditional feel of the original while adding Frehley’s unique guitar playing and a guest appearance from Rob Zombie guitarist John 5, is available as a digital single and via streaming services.
The cover will also appear on Frehley’s upcoming album of covers, “Origins Vol. 2,” which will arrive on Sept. 18. Watch a “Visualizer” music video for the song via YouTube below.
“I’m Down” is the second advance track the founding KISS guitarist has unveiled from “Origins Vol. 2.” Previously, Frehley released a cover of Deep Purple’s “Space Truckin’.”
“Origins Vol. 2” follows Frehley’s first set of covers, called “Origins Vol. 1,” which offered new versions of songs by artists who influenced Frehley.
“Origins Vol. 2” is also set to feature new renditions of Led Zeppelin’s “Good Times Bad Times,” The Rolling Stones’ “Jumpin’ Jack Flash,” The Kinks’ “Lola” and The Jimi Hendrix Experience’s “Manic Depression.” A cover of the 1975 KISS tune “She” also appears as a bonus track.
Guests on the set include the aeformentioned John 5, Cheap Trick’s Robin Zander, Lita Ford and former KISS guitarist Bob Kulick.
