Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme and Rage Against the Machine’s Zack de la Rocha will appear on an upcoming TV special to encourage voter turnout
Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age and Zack de la Rocha of Rage Against the Machine will appear in the upcoming Run the Jewels “Holy CalamaVOTE” TV concert special.
Both performers appear on Run the Jewels’ new album, “RTJ4,” which arrived in June. Another special appearance at the TV special will come from gospel great Mavis Staples, who sings with Homme on the Run the Jewels track, “Pulling the Pin.”
“Holy CalamaVOTE” will debut on Saturday, Oct. 17 at midnight ET/PT on Adult Swim. The show was originally scheduled to air Oct. 10 but was delayed because of a “health scare” involving a crew member. That crew member has “been cleared of any COVID-19 diagnosis,” according to a press release.
The show is presented by Ben & Jerry’s and Adult Swim. Eric Andre will serve as the Master of Ceremonies for the full concert.
“Holy CalamaVOTE” has the goal of encouraging voter registration and participation. It will also mark Run the Jewels’ first time performing their new songs off “RTJ4” in a live setting. After its TV debut, the program will be available to stream on YouTube, with funds going to the ACLU.
Fans are being encouraged to get involved by pledging to vote here.
