Michelle Branch Reveals She Suffered a Miscarriage Over the Holidays
Michelle Branch, who is married to Patrick Carney of the Black Keys, has revealed that she suffered a miscarriage over the holiday weekend
Pop singer Michelle Branch shared some sad, personal news over the Christmas holiday. Branch is married to Patrick Carney of alternative rock band the Black Keys, and they have a two-year-old son together, Rhys James. In an Instagram post, Branch shared, “Just when we were rounding third and heading home…2020 was like, ‘nah, I ain’t done yet.’ December decided to really finish us off with a bang! No, literally. A bomb went off in downtown Nashville yesterday. And to further twist a dagger in my heart, I experienced my first miscarriage…”
Even with the bad news, Branch says she was able to have a good holiday and did her best to get into the festive spirit. “But alas, between the crying and binge eating of Christmas cookies, I decided to put on lipstick and a dress. We drank champagne alllll day. Made an incredible meal and sang Christmas songs snuggled up by a roaring fire,” said Branch, who also has a 15-year-old daughter, Owen, from a previous marriage.
Michelle added that she’s “limping to the finish line” off 2020. She’s surely not alone. “These people, my precious family, my husband, sister and kids have been the MVP’s. I couldn’t imagine spending a year isolated with anyone else. Happy Christmas, everyone xx,” she said.
Branch’s most recent album, “Hopeless Romantic,” dropped in 2017. She is also half of the American country duo The Wreckers, which she formed with Jessica Harp in the mid-200s, and recently teased new music on the way for the band. “Jess and I realized yesterday after exhaustingly trying to claim our @spotifyforartists end of year wrap up, that we had zero social media and no website. How would we keep you in touch if we decided to put out new music? Go follow @thewreckersmusic for updates,” Branch wrote on Instagram, asking fans to link up online.
