Corey Taylor of Slipknot and Stone Sour Names His New Year’s Resolution
Corey Taylor of Slipknot and Stone Sour has a lofty 2021 New Year’s resolution, and it has to do with his diet
Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor has some lofty goals for 2021 regarding his diet. In an interview with Kerrang!, Taylor discusses his New Year’s resolution for 2021, which is to fully cut out all sugar from his meal plans.
“I’ll tell you what: it’s been the one thing that’s been the hardest for me to really let go of,” Taylor told the publication. “I’ve quit smoking, I’ve quit drinking, I’ve quit drugs; I’ve quit all that stuff. But this is the one that’s kind of hanging around.”
When it comes to guilty pleasures, Taylor says sugar is a huge one for him. In fact, his sweet tooth is “ridiculous,” he admits.
“Maybe it’s because I’m surrounded by it because I have kids – it makes it a little tougher,” Taylor said. “Plus my sweet tooth is also just so ridiculous: I once filled a red Solo cup with peanut butter and a half bag of M&Ms and ate it like it was a bowl of cereal… this is the kind of person you’re dealing with (laughs).”
Being on lockdown for most of 2020 didn’t help the sugar situation. That said, he’s used the time at home to get in shape and exercise more.
“As my legs have gotten stronger after my knee surgery I’ve been able to work out more, I’m lifting weights, I’m running 5k every day, so I am trying to stay healthy and stay ready for when everything kicks back in,” Corey explained. “I’m actually in better shape than I was before lockdown – I’ve been able to take advantage of that.”
Taylor released his debut solo album, “CMFT,” last fall, and the record has been critically praised for its variety of genres. The album, which was named one of Audio Ink Radio’s Top 60 Albums of 2020 in Rock and Metal, featured the mainstream rock hit, “Black Eyes Blue.”
