Lenny Kravitz Stars in Anheuser-Busch Super Bowl Commercial
Super Bowl commercials are always a highlight of the Big Game, and Lenny Kravitz is getting in on the action with an ad for Anheuser-Busch’s Stella Artois
Super Bowl LV takes place this Sunday (Feb. 7), with the American Football Conference champion Kansas City Chiefs taking on the National Football Conference champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers. While football fans are pumped to see the Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes go head-to-head with the Buccaneers’ Tom Brady, everybody knows the real spotlight will be on the Super Bowl commercials.
At this point, the Super Bowl commercials have become almost a bigger spectacle than the Big Game itself. Longtime rocker Lenny Kravitz is getting in on the hoopla, as he’ll appear in an Anheuser-Busch’s Stella Artois advertisement that plays during the Big Game. As he tells Billboard, the ad will encourage viewers to think about how they spend each and every heartbeat, as the average human heart, he explains, beats 2.5 billion times in a lifetime.
“This campaign is about investing in each other, using our 2.5 billion heartbeats to spread love, to nurture the relationships in life that are important to us during this time,” Kravitz said, adding that his ad is called “Heartbeat Billionaire” and features his 1991 song, “It Ain’t Over ’til It’s Over.”
“This (pandemic) has been an opportunity, despite all the drama that’s going on, to really connect with our loved ones and our families, and it’s given us an opportunity to see what is important in life,” he added. “At the end of the day, it’s how are you going to spend your life? What kind of energy did you put out there into the world?”
“It ain’t over ’til it’s over,” Kravitz added. “That also stands for this time. We’re in a time right now, but we will continue. We will get through this.”
The Anheuser-Busch ad will run 30 seconds and feature Kravitz stepping up to his drum set to rock out to “It Ain’t Over ’til It’s Over,” which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. It’s a feel-good ad, with a collection of animated people hugging, holding hands and spending time with their loved ones. Other Super Bowl commercials on tap for Sunday include an Uber Eats spot with “Wayne’s World” reuniting to get the word out, an “Amazon’s Sexy Alexa” ad featuring Michael B. Jordan and a Squarespace clip flipping the Dolly Parton classic song “9 to 5” to “5 to 9.”
