Disturbed’ Announce Comic Series Starring Longtime Mascot, The Guy
The Guy has served as Disturbed’s dark mascot for more than 20 years, and now, he’s getting his own comics series
Disturbed is a band known for its hard-hitting mix of rock and metal music, but that’s not all. The group is known for its mascot, The Guy, a dark figure that has appeared on many of the band’s album covers over the years.
Now, Disturbed’s The Guy is getting the comic book treatment. The menacing mascot will star in “Dark Messiah,” a new five-issue comic book series published via Heavy Metal Entertainment and Incendium.
“The iconic character and beloved mascot “The Guy” has been the faceless ‘face’ of Disturbed for over 20 years,” a release states. It adds that “Dark Messiah” will be the first look into The Guy’s “powers, history and lore.”
In addition to the five-issue comics series, Disturbed will also unleash an official The Guy action figure.
“Ever since ‘The Guy’ made his debut 20 years ago his evolution and transformation has only grown,” Disturbed said in a collective statement. “We are excited to take ‘The Guy’ to the next level and bring his story to the forefront via both the comic book series and action figures. We can’t wait to share this next chapter with all of you.”
“The guys in Disturbed have a lot of the same influences I do…horror movies, 90s superhero comics, punk music, and an interest in humanity and the fight against oppression,” added writer Tim Seeley, who also serves as the editor-in-chief of Heavy Metal Magazine. “So, we’ve teamed up to give a story to ‘The Guy’, and it’s going to be a savage horror epic about heroism, hope and a whole lot of teeth and chains.”
The first “Dark Messiah” issue will arrive in July, and the official The Guy action figure will debut in October. For more information and to pre-order the comics series or action figure, head to Incendium.online.
