The Metal Tour of the Year is a go for 2021, featuring heavy sets from Megadeth, Lamb of God, Trivium and In Flames

After a few false starts, the Metal Tour of the Year is on target to finally happen in 2021. The heavy bill, which features co-headliners Lamb of God and Megadeth, was originally slated to kick off in June 2020. Of course, the pandemic hit, and the tour dates were pushed into July 2021.

Now, the trek has been delayed once again, but this time, not nearly as long. The Metal Tour of the Year has been rescheduled to kick off in August 2021, delaying the opening shows just by a matter of weeks.

“Can you hear that sound of armies on the march — of destruction on the horizon? That’s this tour, coming for you,” Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine said in a statement. “We cannot wait to return to the stage and I promise you you do NOT want to miss these shows. You’re not going to know what hit you!”

In addition to Lamb of God and Megadeth, The Metal Tour of the Year also features Trivium and In Flames. Previously purchased tickets will be good for the rescheduled shows. Additional tickets for the trek will go on sale to the general public starting Friday (May 7) at 10 a.m. local time.

Megadeth are currently working on their much-anticipated follow-up to their Grammy Award-winning 2016 studio set, “Dystopia.” Lamb of God released their latest album, a self-titled effort, in 2020, and they’ve been performing various livestream concerts.
