Slipknot and Stone Sour Vocalist Corey Taylor Tests Positive for COVID-19
Corey Taylor of Slipknot and Stone Sour says he’s “not worried” about contracting COVID-19 because he’s fully vaccinated
Corey Taylor recently wrapped up a solo tour, and he has the massive “Knotfest Roadshow” touring festival on the way. Now, the Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman has to take a step back, as he has tested positive for COVID-19.
Taylor made the announcement via the Astronomicon pop-culture convention, which takes place this weekend in Ann Arbor, Michigan. In a video message posted by the convention, the musician told fans he won’t be able to be at the event because even though he is vaccinated, he was feeling “very, very sick” and wouldn’t want to spread it to anyone else.
“I wish I had better news. I woke up today and tested positive, and I’m very, very sick,” he explained in the video. “So I’m not gonna be able to make it this weekend. And I am absolutely devastated. I am so sorry.”
The singer added, “I hope everyone has a good time, and I promise you I will absolutely try to get back there as soon as I can. I should be okay — it (feels like) the flu. I’m vaccinated, so I’m not worried. But I certainly wouldn’t want to spread it to anyone else. So, everybody be safe out there. And thank you so much. And I will see you again, I promise.”
Other rock musicians who recently tested positive for COVID-19 include Jonathan Davis of Korn and Leigh Kakaty of Pop Evil. Bands that have been forced to postpone or cancel tour dates due to COVID-19 cases within their camps include Buckcherry, Tesla, Korn, Pop Evil, Mammoth WVH and Fall Out Boy, among others.
Slipknot will embark on the “Knotfest Roadshow” tour in late September. The band has also been tapped to perform at Riot Fest in Chicago, stepping in for Nine Inch Nails, who canceled all of their 2021 shows due to the ongoing pandemic.
