Mastodon, AC/DC, Deftones, Foo Fighters Among 2022 Grammy Nominees
The 2022 Grammy nominations in the rock and metal categories feature familiar names, including Mastodon, AC/DC, Deftones and Foo Fighters
The Grammy Awards have announced their roster of 2022 nominees, and longstanding rock acts such as Mastodon, Foo Fighters, AC/DC and Deftones are among the familiar names on the tally. The eligibility timeframe to be nominated for the 64th Annual Grammy Awards was Sept. 1, 2020 through Sept. 30, 2021, which includes several big releases from the aforementioned acts.
One of the biggest categories for rock fans is Best Rock Performance. The 2022 nominees include AC/DC for “Shot in the Dark,” Black Pumas for “Know You Better (Live From Capitol Studio A),” the late Chris Cornell for “Nothing Compares 2 U,” Deftones for “Ohms” and Foo Fighters for “Making a Fire.”
The Grammys have one metal category, and it’s for Best Metal Performance. The 2022 nominees in that area include
Deftones with “Genesis,” Dream Theater for “The Alien,” Gojira with “Amazonia,” Mastodon for “Pushing the Tides” and Rob Zombie for “The Triumph Of King Freak (A Crypt Of Preservation And Superstition).”

The 2022 Grammy Awards ceremony will take place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Monday, Jan. 31, 2022. The show will air live on CBS beginning at 8 p.m. ET. The Paramount+ service will also be streaming the event.
