New Music Festival Lets Fans Get Married Between Puddle of Mudd, Scott Stapp, Fuel Sets
Honeymoon Rock Fest offers a package to allow fans to get married between sets
If you have fond feelings about early-2000s post-grunge and nu-metal and plan to get married soon, a new music festival wants to bring those lovely worlds together. The first-ever Honeymoon Rock Fest is set to take place in Oklahoma City and feature headliners Puddle of Mudd, Scott Stapp and Fuel, in addition to other rock bands from the early-2000s scene.
That might sound odd to anyone except someone who totally loves early-2000s music. But, it’s a go, as a press release states, “Between musical sets, couples who purchase a wedding package can tie the knot in front of thousands of cheering fans, where so many of the musicians are excited to officiate.”
Hey, there’s nothing wrong with spicing up a wedding, right? Besides, with everyone upside down for the past two years, couples are looking for unorthodox ways of tying the knot, and this definitely qualifies.
The festival is set for March 18 to 20 at Oklahoma City’s Remington Park, so this would make for a picturesque spring wedding. Three-day passes and single-day tickets are available via the official Honeymoon Rock Fest website. Wedding packages are also on sale.
Puddle of Mudd will headline the show on Friday, March 18, with support from Fuel, Eve 6, Wheatus, and Aranda, to name a few. On Saturday, March 19, Scott Stapp, known as “The Voice of Creed,” will headline with support from Saliva, Saving Abel, Powerman 5000, Tantric and more. On Sunday, March 20, Sugar Ray will wrap up the festival, with openers Candlebox, Everclear, The Nixons, Sister Hazel and more. Honestly, Sugar Ray doesn’t quite fit the bill, since that act was more pop-rock than straight-ahead rock, but the eras work.
According to festival organizer Leia Sigler, Honeymoon Rock Fest “is a music festival to celebrate love, and that’s exactly what people need right now. The world today seems so divided, so this is our chance to bring people together and raise a glass to the things that unite us all — great music, romance, and lifetime devotion. This is a true original event. There’s never been another like this anywhere.”
