Metallica, Machine Gun Kelly, Green Day and More Set for 2022 Lollapalooza

For the first time in years, the 2022 Lollapalooza festival in Chicago will feature a dose of metal with Metallica tapped as one of the headliners

Lollapalooza will return to Chicago this summer, and the 2022 bill will bring the heavy with Metallica topping the bill. In addition to Metallica, Green Day and Machine Gun Kelly will also headline the latest edition.

The past decade has brought mainly alternative, pop and hip-hop acts to Lollapalooza, but this time around, the festival has booked a large dose of rock and metal. In addition to the headliners, the event will bring performances from Maneskin, Idles, Turnstile, Willow, Royal Blood, Dashboard Confessional, Wet Leg, The Wombats, The Regrettes, Kennyhoopla, Gayle, Taipei Houston, Giovannie and the Hired Guns, Lorna Shore and Meet Me @ the Altar, to name a few.

Lollapalooza will take place over four days at Chicago’s Grant Park July 28 from 31. Other artists booked for the festival include J. Cole, Doja Cat, Dua Lipa, Lil Baby, Kygo, Glass Animals, Billy Strings, Big Sean, The Kid Laroi, Jazmine Sullivan, Don Tolliver, Charli XCX, Kaskade, Rezz, Local Natives, Tove Lo, YG, Zhu, Dominic Fike, King Princess, 100 Gecs, Girl in Red, Manchester Orchestra, Bob Moses, Banks, Tinashe, Pinkpanthress and more. Jane’s Addiction will also serve as a “special guest” at this year’s edition. Jane’s frontman Perry Farrell founded Lollapalooza back in the ’90s.

Returning to Lollapalooza this year is Kidzapalooza, an interactive music playground within the festival, featuring a lineup of family-friendly performances, activities, music, and dance workshops and more. In addition, this year’s festival will offer an array of NFT options and experiences, according to a release. Attendees will find NFTs to purchase at the event, and Lollapalooza is also collaborating with NFT communities to create NFTs that are minted, collected, and traded for artistic value.

Tickets for Lollapalooza 2022 are on sale now via the event’s official website. Several packages are available, including general admission, VIP and platinum packages.
