Evanescence Announce New Lineup for Upcoming Tour
Evanescence has announced a new lineup for their upcoming European and North American tours
Evanescence and guitarist Jen Majura are going separate ways, following seven years together. The longstanding rock band also promises to announce a new lineup before they hit the road on their upcoming European North American tours with Korn.
The announcement seemed to come out of the blue, as there was no buzz about Majura and Evanescence having problems. Evanescence made the announced via their official Instagram page, saying goodbye to Majura and promising some “exciting news” about the upcoming Evanescence lineup.
“It has been a very special chapter in the band with our dear friend Jen Majura, but we have decided it’s time to go our separate ways,” the band stated in the Instagram post. “We will always love her and support her, and can’t wait to see what she does next! We are so grateful for the good times and great music we made all around the world together.”
The statement added, “We are hard at work rehearsing for our upcoming tour and will have some exciting news about the new lineup coming in the next few days, so stay tuned.”
Evanescence’s post left fans wondering whether it was a mutual decision for Majura to leave the band. As it turns out, it was not. Majura later tweeted about the news, stating that she didn’t want to leave the band.
“I feel the need to address that none of this was my decision!” Majura tweeted. “I have no hard feelings against anybody and I wish Evanescence all the best. I am allowed to carry beautiful memories of these past years, I am grateful.”
As it turns out, the “big news” that Evanescence tweeted about was that the band’s longtime bass player, Tim McCord, will step up to load guitar duties for the upcoming tour. In turn, Emma Anzai of Sick Puppies will join the band for their upcoming shows on bass. “We’ve been friends and fans for years, and the time has finally come to join forces,” Evanescence stated on social media, regarding Anzai.
Evanescence kicks off a European tour on June 5. After that run, Amy Lee and the crew will hit the road with Korn for a co-headlining North American run that sets off Aug. 16 at Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado, and runs through a Sept. 16 at the RV Inn Style Resorts Amphitheater in Ridgefield, Washington.
