Jinjer Allowed to Leave Ukraine for International Tour
Jinjer will raise funds and awareness for Ukraine on tour this year
Ukrainian metal band Jinjer have been given permission to leave the country by Ukraine’s Ministry of Culture to hit the road on an international tour. The trek will also help raise funds for their homeland.
After Russia invaded of Ukraine earlier this year, Jinjer had to cancel their support dates on Slipknot’s U.S. “Knotfest Roadshow” tour. In lieu of that tour, they helped raise funds for Ukraine by selling merchandise. Now, the band is continuing to raise funds and awareness for their country on tour.
“We are very honored to announce that together with the help of the Ukrainian Ministry of Culture, we have successfully been granted permission to travel abroad as ambassadors of our country to raise funds and awareness about the war raging back home,” bass player Eugene Abdukhanov said. “This is a huge honor for us as a band and as citizens. We will do our part to make sure that this war stops as soon as possible! Come support, dance and scream your hearts out for Ukraine!”
Jinjer’s first tour date is Friday (June 10) at the Greenfield Festival in Switzerland. They’ll continue on tour through a stint at the Elbriot Festival in Hamburg, Germany. After that, the group will hit the road with Bullet for My Valentine for a 2023 European/UK tour. View the band’s full roster of tour dates below.
In addition to the touring news, Jinjer has dropped a music video for the 2021 song “Call Me a Symbol.” Watch the music video below.
“I think this video for ‘Call Me A Symbol’ will forever hold a special and unique place in our hearts as a band,” Eugene said in a statement. “Filmed on our short but awesome European Tour in 2021 tour that almost did not happen because of the pandemic, and now released at such a dark time in which our country has been invaded and there is war on the streets of our home.”
He added, “I really hope this video and this important time in history gives people a new perspective that there are always two sides to everything. Good and Evil, Just and unjust – cherish the good times and face the bad head on… but never ever give up.”
