Metallica Frontman James Hetfield Was ‘Stranger Things’ Character Eddie Munson for Halloween

A whole new generation of music fans are now familiar with Metallica, thanks to one thing and one thing only: “Stranger Things.” The Netflix show has blasted Metallica’s music to the masses, and now, Metallica and “Stranger Things” go hand in hand.
This year for Halloween, Metallica frontman James Hetfield dressed up as the series’ famed character Eddie Munson. Hetfield took to Metallica’s social media accounts to share a photo of him dressed up as Munson on Halloween. The vocalist sported the character’s popular denim vest over leather jacket, as well as a “Hellfire Club” T-shirt. He also took it one stop further and wore a curly, Munson-appropriate mullet wig. In the caption, Hetfield stated, “Eddie Munson says Happy Halloween,” as he proudly held up the metal horns.
So, how did this all get started, the Metallica and “Stranger Things” bond? Munson, played by actor Joseph Quinn, performed the Metallica classic “Master of Puppets” during an important scene in the fourth season of “Stranger Things.” Later, Metallica duetted with Munson’s scene in a viral TikTok clip. You might be surprised that a band as classic as Metallica is on TikTok, but these guys always make sure to stay as young and trendy as possible.
But, that’s not all. Later on, Metallica went even one step further and displayed clips from “Stranger Things” during their performance of “Master of Puppets” at Lollapalooza. At that same event, they also performed with Quinn backstage.
Following the big premiere of “Stranger Things,” season four, last summer, Metallica stated, “It’s an incredible honor to be such a big part of Eddie’s journey and to once again be keeping company with all of the other amazing artists featured in the show.” View Hetfield dressed up as Eddie Munson for Halloween in the Instagram post below.
