Brad (feat. Pearl Jam’s Stone Gossard) Prepping New Album
Pearl Jam member Stone Gossard will release a new album with his band Brad later this year
Pearl Jam guitarist Stone Gossard keeps busy with his plethora of side projects. One of those, Brad, recently announced their first new album in 11 years. The record, called “In the Moment That You’re Born,” drops July 28.
In advance of the new album, Brad has released the album’s title track. It’s a slow, sludgy rocker with laid-back but strong vocals. Listen to the single via the YouTube player below.
“In the Moment That You’re Born” marks Brad’s sixth studio album and their follow-up to 2012’s “United We Stand.”
The single and other songs on the album feature the vocals of late Brad singer Shawn Smith, who passed away in 2019.
“I’m moved by Shawn Smith once again,” drummer Regan Hagar said in a statement. “And Stone’s guitar work on this track kills me every time I listen.”
“Brad has always been good at looking back and returning as well,” Gossard adds. “Cherishing those times in the past, where we allowed ourselves to experience the magic of creation together, with all the sense of adventure, fear and fearlessness, insecurity and bravado.”
One new song of particular interest is a new version of “Stars N’ You,” originally written and sung by late Mother Love Bone frontman Andrew Wood. He released the song in 1986, not with Mother Love Bone, but with his band Malfunkshun.
“In the Moment That You’re Born” will arrive on Loosegroove Records, which Gossard and Hagar founded. Pre-order the set here. On top of the new release, Brad are issuing a 30th anniversary vinyl edition of their 1993 debut, “Shame,” on the same day the new album drops.
In other news, Gossard’s main band, Pearl Jam, recently announced a new round of U.S. tour dates for August and September. Read Audio Ink Radio’s interview with Stone Gossard here.
