Corey Taylor of Slipknot and Stone Sour says his second solo album will be “bigger, better and harder” than his first

Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor has officially inked a deal with BMG for his second solo album. The set, called “CMF2,” will mark the follow-up to Taylor’s 2020 debut record, “CMFT.” Taylor says the album will drop later this year.

“[It’s] bigger, better and harder than CMFT in almost every way,” Taylor said of the new album in an interview with Billboard. “The songs are sick, the music is gigantic, and the risks were off the charts. CMFT was where I came from; CMF2 is where I’m going.”

Taylor’s debut solo album arrived on Roadrunner Records, the home of his main band, Slipknot. As for the BMG switch, Taylor explained, “I wanted to work with BMG, because they came in super hot wanting to work with me.” He added that “they’ve been keeping the fires burning for rock, punk and metal over the last few years.”

The record will also arrive on Taylor’s own Decibel Cooper imprint via BMG, which makes it a bit more complex. Of that move, Taylor explains, “Decibel Cooper will not only allow me to release my own music and art worldwide, but it also gives me a solid way to help bolster any rad new acts I want to put on the roster. BMG is going to help me put my money where my mouth is — giving a boost to the next generation.”

In other news, Taylor is keeping busy this year. He’s staying active with Slipknot and will hit the road with the masked metal band this year to appear at some major music festivals. The first major gig is the Welcome to Rockville festival in Daytona Beach, Florida, this month. Slipknot will also appear at a handful of European festivals this June, and then, in July, the guys return to the States to perform at Wisconsin’s Rock Fest and Ohio’s Inkcarceration festivals.
