Queens of the Stone Age Release New Song, ‘Carnavoyeur’
Listen to a new song from Queens of the Stone Age, “Carnavoyeur”
Desert rockers Queens of the Stone Age have released a new single, “Carnavoyeur.” The song is their latest track off the band’s upcoming full-length album, “In Times New Roman…”
“Carnavoyeur” follows the album’s first single, “Emotion Sickness.” The new track features a deep groove and sharp, staccato riffing. As the track continues, it builds and becomes more complex, ending with an explosion of sounds and styles that is pure psychedelia. This mix of heavy sounds and psychedelic stoner rock is very Queens of the Stone Age. That said, it fits well into their catalog.
“Carnavoyeur,” as a press release describes, features “mesmerizing washes of strings cascade atop the band’s trademark rock solid foundation,” topped with frontperson Joshua Homme’s strong vocals. “When there’s nothing I can do, I smile,” he sings as the song progresses.
“While the stunning, honeyed melodies of ‘Carnavoyeur’ are undeniably, well, really pretty, this is still Queens of the Stone Age,” the press release adds, regarding the sound and style of the track. “There’s no shortage of viscera-rumbling drums and bass or spine-chilling guitar interplay.” Listen to “Carnavoyeur” here and via YouTube below.
“In Times New Roman…” arrive on June 16 via Matador Records. The album marks Queens of the Stone Age’s follow-up to 2017’s “Villains.”
Queens of the Stone Age will hit the road this year in support of their new album. They have a handful of festival shows on the books, including Boston Calling, Riot Fest in Chicago, Aftershock Festival in Sacramento and Louder Than Life in Louisville. They also have a handful of European tour dates up ahead, and chances are, they’ll announce North American tour dates at some point this year.
