Metal Band Does Incredible Cover of Taylor Swift Song, ‘Wildest Dreams’
Listen to a metal version of the Taylor Swift song, “Wildest Dreams”
It’s always an interesting thing when a band goes outside of its genre to cover another band’s music. The other night, I heard modern metal band Ice Nine Kills’ cover of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller,” and it sounded incredible. It was so unique to hear the song interpreted with thick guitars and a more gothic approach. Ice Nine Kills are currently on tour with Metallica, and I hope they perform that song on that date I attend. Well, now, a metal band has covered the Taylor Swift song “Wildest Dreams,” and it sounds pretty rad.
On Sunday (Nov. 5), the British power metal band Dragonforce was playing a show in Montreal, QC, and they decided to surprise the crowd. They brought Arch Enemy vocalist Alissa White-Gluz onto the stage. With White-Gluz, they all performed a cover of pop star Taylor Swift’s “Wildest Dreams.”
Listening to the cover, it sounds almost unrecognizable from the original. If I didn’t know it was a Taylor Swift cover, I truly would have thought this was an original metal song. It’s great to hear this kind of music interpreted in so many different ways. Judging by fan-filmed footage, the crowd loved the track. Watch some footage of Dragonforce and White-Gluz performing the song below.
Dragonforce are currently on the road on a North American tour with Amaranthe, Nanowar of Steel and Edge of Paradise. The trek wraps up Nov. 19 with a gig in Los Angeles. Listen to their version of “Wildest Dreams” below. Also, Dragonforce has reportedly recorded a cover of the song that will appear on the deluxe edition of their upcoming album, “Warp Speed Warriors,” due out in March 2024.
In other news, it’s difficult to escape Taylor Swift lately. Her “Eras Tour” is selling out around the globe. She’s also reportedly dating star Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. The Chiefs have a bye week this week, and there are rumors that Kelce will head down to Argentina to see her on the South American leg of her tour. He talked about it on the latest episode of his podcast, “New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce,” and the brothers had some funny banter about his plans for the weekend. “I might just say f— it and just go somewhere nice, I don’t know,” Travis said. “My skin’s getting real pale so I gotta go somewhere sunny.” However, later in the episode, Travis said that he doesn’t like to do too much on his bye weeks, because he has to stay heathy. “You just don’t know how healthy you’re gonna be or how you’re gonna feel whether you’re winning or losing. I’m not trying to go and f—king be out and about if we’re out here losing,” he said. “I want to get as healthy as possible going into arguably the biggest game … on the schedule. I definitely got the future in mind and got to get this body right.”
