Bon Jovi is Back: New Album, ‘Forever,’ and New Song, ‘Legendary’

There’s something comforting about Bon Jovi being back. The famed rock band has announced a new album, “Forever,” out June 7th via Island Records, and a new single, “Legendary.” The title “legendary” is totally appropriate for Bon Jovi, because the band, well, is legendary.

Bon Jovi’s New Song, ‘Legendary’

Musically speaking, “Legendary” is a country-flavored pop-rock track. But, Jon Bon Jovi and company haven’t totally abandoned their hard rock roots. Let’s face it: This band has always been very pop-oriented. That’s why they’re so popular on mainstream radio. So, this isn’t a real divergence from their sound. It just has a slight twang, but it sounds good on the band.

Jon Bon Jovi has deal with vocal issues over the years, but his voice sounds pure and pristine on the full song. The song’s chorus features the whole band singing along, so it doesn’t highlight his voice alone.

“This record is a return to joy,” Jon Bon Jovi said in a press release. “From the writing, through the recording process, this is turn up the volume, feel good Bon Jovi.”

This is a big year for Bon Jovi, as the guys are celebrating their 40th anniversary as a band. On top of the new album, the band is releasing a career-spanning Hulu docuseries, “Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story,” on April 26th. The four-part docuseries will tell the story of all four decades of the group and especially focus on Jon himself. A press release says to include “personal videos, unreleased early demos, original lyrics, and never-before-seen photos.” ROS produced the series, and Alex Trudeau Viriato edited and co-produced it.

Back to the new album, “Forever.” Fans can pre-order the collection on vinyl, included some limited signed copies, as well as on CD and even cassette via Bon Jovi’s official store. Bon Jovi will debut another new song, “Hollow Man,” during an episode of “Tracker” on CBS Sunday (March 17).
