Eminem’s alter ego Slim Shady is saying farewell. The Detroit rapper took to social media to announce some Eminem new album details regarding a new album, “The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce).” He also announced the new album via a short ad during the 2024 NFL Draft in Detroit.

Eminem new album details are here. The new release will usher in a new era for Eminem and put Slim Shady back in the spotlight. For the past few records, Slim Shady hasn’t been in the spotlight on Eminem’s releases, so this release will change that. However, considering it’s called the “Death of Slim Shady,” this will likely also mark the end of Eminem’s alter ego.

Slim Shady was the namesake on Eminem’s 1997 EP, the “Slim Shady EP,” and then again on his wildly popular 1999 album, “The Slim Shady LP.” Many fans got to know Slim Shady on the song, “My Name Is,” which was a cheeky introduction for Slim Shady to the world.

Eminem announced the new album the same week that he’s involved with the 2024 NFL Draft in Detroit. The rapper helped kick off night one of the draft on Thursday (April 25), along with other Detroit notables, such as Barry Sanders and some of the current Detroit Lions. Eminem also appeared in several commercials leading up to the NFL Draft being in the Motor City.

As for the new album, Eminem announced the release via a true-crime detective ad. In it, a narrator says, “Through his complex and oft-criticized tongue-twisting rhymes, the antihero known as (Slim Shady) has had no shortage of enemies. The same rude lyrics and controversial antics may have ultimately led to his demise. Join me as we recreate the events that led to the murder of Slim Shady.”

Fellow rapper 50 Cent also appears in the ad, saying, “He’s not a friend, he’s a psychopath.”

“Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce)” will mark Eminem’s 12th studio album and follow-up to 2020’s “Music to Be Murdered By.” The latter debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, even though it was a surprise release. The album’s single “Godzilla” featuring the late Juice Wrld reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100.

As for more Eminem new album details, while an official release date hasn’t been announced yet, Eminem has stated it will arrive sometime this summer.

Will the great Dr. Dre appear on Eminem’s new album? It’s possible. Dr. Dre often collaborates with Eminem, and he’s been teasing that he’s working with Eminem on some new tracks. “Let me tell you something, let me explain something to you right now — Eminem is working on his own album, which is coming out this year. I’ve got songs on it, and it’s fire,” he said on Jimmy Kimmel Live last month.

The 2024 NFL Draft wraps up in Detroit on Saturday (April 27). As mentioned above, Eminem has been a focal point of the draft, from the commercials to opening up the event. No word on if he’ll appear on Saturday to wrap up the event, but it’s well known that Eminem is a huge Detroit Lions fan, so he must have been so thrilled to be part of this year’s draft.

Eminem was also recently inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. During his acceptance speech, he said, “I’m probably not supposed to actually be here tonight because of a couple of reasons. One of them that I’m a rapper, and this is the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.”
