Kittie New Album Details
“Fire” will mark Kittie’s first new album in 13 years. To give fans a taste of the album, the band has released a new song, the raging “Vultures,” which follows previously released singles “Eyes Wide Open” and “We Are Shadows.”
Kittie vocalist and guitarist Morgan Lander stated, “10 years ago, if someone would have told us that we would be releasing new Kittie music in 2024, we’d have dismissed them right away. It feels like something deeper than fate that’s brought us together again, allowing us to create something fearless and magical for you.”
She also discussed how hard the band has been working on this new music. “We’ve worked incredibly hard over the past year, and surrounded ourselves with the ultimate dream team to make this album a reality,” she said. “We cannot wait for you to lose yourselves in the passion and strength of ‘Fire.'”
For “Fire,” Kittie went to popular Nick Raskulinecz, who has worked with everyone from Foo Fighters to Alice in Chains to Korn.
Switching gears to the single, Lander commented, “‘Vultures’ is a bold musical declaration, signaling our new beginnings as a band.” She added, “‘Vultures’ is a warning to those with hidden agendas, who thrive on deception. It’s a proclamation of breaking free of the chains of exploitation and a reckoning for those who pick at the bones of those who suffer in silence.”
In addition to the new song, Kittie have released the official music video for “Vultures,” which features footage of Kittie performing the track live at the 2024 Sick New World festival in Las Vegas, Nevada. Kittie have plenty of live appearances up ahead, including performances at the Welcome to Rockville and Sonic Temple festivals. They also have some headlining North American tour dates in July and August.
Kittie were one of the few all-female metal bands in the ’90s and 2000s, right when the nu-metal genre was budding. While being women in metal music isn’t as rare today, back then, Kittie really stood alone. Their 1999 debut album, “Spit,” is considered one of the most influential in the early nu-metal movement.
Lander spoke with Audio Ink Radio in 2023 and hinted at new music and touring back then. “We’ve got some interesting things coming down the pipeline, so I think, without giving too much away, I feel like the next few years will be very interesting and very exciting for the band,” she said.
