Metallica are arguably the biggest metal band on the planet. Okay, they’re really not-so-arguably that status. That said, it’s not surprising that some of Metallica members’ sons are also in the music world. Bastardane and OTTTO are both bands that each feature the son of a Metallica band member. Now, those two bands have announced a 24-date summer 2024 North American co-headlining tour together. It makes total sense for these two to go on the road together. Keep it in the family.

Metallica Members’ Sons Joining Forces for 2024 Tour

Bastardane and OTTTO, both featuring Metallica members’ sons, have announced the “Reconquest Tour.” The trek begins Aug. 2 in New York City and continues through a Sept. 6 show in Los Angeles. On the tour, the guys will also perform in Boston, Toronto, Chicago, Minneapolis and Seattle. You’ll find ticket information via Bastardane’s website.

So, who are these famous band members and their band mates? Bastardane’s drummer is Castor Hetfield, the son of Metallica frontman James Hetfield. The rest of the band features Jacobious Lovebone on vocals, Ethan Sirotzki on guitar and Luca Badan on bass. OTTTO features Tye Trujillo, the son of Metallica bass player Robert Trujillo. OTTTO has recently announced a new lead vocalist, Tito Dutta, who along with drummer Triko Chavez completes the band.

The question I have is, will James and Robert be at these shows, watching their sons like proud dads? I’m guessing they’ll be at more than a few of the shows, but time will tell. I’m sure my mom and dad would be at all of my shows, if it was possible, in a situation like this one.

“It’s an intriguing and a new fundamental milestone in the trajectory of OTTTO,” Trujillo of new singer Dutta, who joins the band in place of previous frontman Bryan Ferretti.

Bastardane are on tour behind their latest album, “Catatonic Symphony,” which marks their sophomore album. OTTTO recently released their debut full-length, “Life Is a Game.” Expect to hear plenty of cuts off those albums, especially since these are two young bands with not much material in their discographies yet. If you’re wondering the style, these guys play metal and punk music, so it’s not too far removed from their fathers’ music.
