Metal music isn’t just for the guys anymore. With decades of women in metal paving the way for females to rock hard, from Doro to Lita Ford to Floor Jansen, it’s not an anomaly to see women in metal music.

In that spirit, the longstanding metal band Judas Priest has an all-female tribute band in Judas Priestess. The group has been going strong for years, and now, Judas Priestess has released a new single, “Dissident Aggressor,” through Golden Robot Records.

Judas Priestess Release ‘Dissident Aggressor’

Judas Priest are known for their high-energy, fiery live performances, and Judas Priestess capture that energy and stage charisma. It’s really exciting to see an all-female metal band playing some of Judas Priest’s biggest and best songs. While there are a lot of different tribute bands out there, it’s always interesting to see females cover songs usually sung and performed by males, as well as the opposite.

In fact, Judas Priestess are one of a kind. According to a release from Golden Robot Records, they’re the “world’s only all-female tribute to the Metal Gods, Judas Priest.”

Everyone from members of Judas Priest to your average rocker instantly falls head over heels in love and in awe of their chops, showmanship and their hot new take on classic metal,” the release states.

These ladies have actually worked with Judas Priest singer Rob Halford, too. Judas Priestess frontwoman Militia Vox sang a duet with Halford on supergroup Bad Penny’s track “Push Comes to Shove.”

Judas Priestess have also played a bevy of high-profile lives shows, including opening for Twisted Sister, Pentagram, Metal Allegiance and Action Bronson.

For their cover of “Dissident Aggressor,” Judas Priestess give the song a new vibe with female vocals and unique instrumentals. It pays tribute to the original song without just doubling it, which is really the best thing you can ask for of a cover song.

If you’re hoping to catch the song live, though, right now, according to Judas Priestess’ official website, the band doesn’t have any live dates scheduled. Judas Priest, however, is a different story, as the legendary metalheads have a bevy of tour dates up ahead.

Judas Priest Vocalist Rob Halford Says Making Music is ‘What We Do’

Halford spoke with Audio Ink Radio earlier this year in an interview, and when asked if there would be a follow-up to their latest album, “Invincible Shield,” he responded positively.

“I think most bands will tell you that their relevance is based on their music and where they are in that particular moment in their life as a band, and that’s always sustained by the new music that you create,” he said.

Halford added that, “even though we haven’t gone into that world yet, into that new world of Priest music, I think that it’s inevitable there will be something else. When it will happen, I have no idea, because, again, this band thrives on the metal that we make, the time that we spend with each other, because there’s a lot of love in this band for each other.”
