A new year is upon us, and looking back on 2024, a handful of bands stand out for having an influential year. Some of these bands made comebacks after being away for years while others just continued to thrive. In honor of these bands that rocked 2024, here are Audio Ink Radio’s most influential bands of 2024.

This Year’s Most Influential Bands

Bad Omens

While it’s true that 2022 was really the breakout year for Bad Omens, thanks to the release of their popular “The Death of Peace of Mind” album, 2024 also was pretty good for the guys. In 2024, Bad Omens released some hard-charging singles that found their way to the top of the rock charts, including the industrial metal-sounding “The Drain” and metalcore “V.A.N.,” the latter featuring Poppy. Here’s hoping that in 2025, Bad Omens release a new full-length album.

Creed

The world greeted Creed’s reunion “With Arms Wide Open,” as the legendary post-grunge band sold out gigs across America on their reunion tour. Everything started when Scott Stapp and Creed reunited for a cruise, and the cruise sold out so quickly, that they decided to book another one. Then, they realized that the demand was really there, so Creed decided to regroup for a reunion tour. That tour hit major markets multiples times in 2024 and regularly sold out dates. Now, all that’s left is for Creed to release a new album or at least a new single. Stranger things have happened. Judging by the success of their reunion tour ticket sales, fans would be interested in new music, too.

Gojira

Gojira are one of the most influential bands of 2024 because they put metal music on the international stage by performing during the Olympic Games Opening Ceremony. Seriously, how often does a heavy metal band perform at the Olympics? It was a special moment for metalheads to see their own represented at this event. The band performed a cinematic version of “Ah! Ça Ira” from various windows of France’s Conciergerie castle, and it was glorious.

Linkin Park

One of the splashiest reunions of 2024 was certainly Linkin Park. The pioneering nu-metal band hadn’t released new music or toured since the tragic passing of lead vocalist Chester Bennington in 2017, but here, seven years later, they decided to go for it. Mike Shinoda and company regrouped with a new vocalist, Emily Armstrong, and released a new album, “From Zero.” They also played live and booked a major tour for 2025. Even 25 years after their “Hybrid Theory” album introduced Linkin Park to the world, they proved they’re still trendsetters today. They topped the charts with their singles off “From Zero” and are one of the most influential bands of the year.

Poppy

Okay, Poppy is a musician, not a band, but she’s still one of the most influential acts of 2024. Poppy has always blurred the lines between pop, electronic and metal music, and in 2024, she released her heaviest opus yet, “Negative Spaces.” Between collaborations with Bad Omens and Knocked Loose and getting a Grammy nomination, 2024 is really the year of Poppy.
