Getting a Las Vegas residency is pretty much as good as it gets for any band or musical act. Having your own Las Vegas set of shows really means that you’ve made it and rock hard. Now, a classic rock band, unfortunately, it having to postpone their Las Vegas residence due to a band member’s illness. It’s great that they’re letting him take the time to recover, but it’s disappointing that they’ll have to wait a bit longer to get on that Las Vegas stage.

Scorpions Postpone Las Vegas Residency

Longstanding German rock band the Scorpions have postponed their 2025 Las Vegas residency to allow for drummer Mikkey Dee to keep recovering from his fight with sepsis.

The band took to their social media accounts to share the news, stating, “We regret to inform you that due to Mikkey Dee’s ongoing recovery from his recent hospitalization, we have made the decision to postpone our ‘Coming Home to Las Vegas Residency’ to August 2025. The health and wellbeing of our brother is of the utmost importance.”

It’s nice to see that the band is putting “health and wellbeing” ahead of anything else, because at the heart of any band, of course, is its healthy band members.

Scorpions were set to start “Coming Home to Las Vegas 60th Anniversary” residency on Feb. 27 at PH Live at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, and they had dates scheduled into March. Now, the dates will run from August 14 to 23, and Buckcherry will still be there a support.

Mikkey Dee Details Journey With Sepsis

Dee hasn’t made a secret of his battle with sepsis. On January 2, he went public and discussed his situation with the disease on Facebook.

“This holiday season, I have been hospitalized with a very serious blood infection (Sepsis),” he posted on Facebook. “I was admitted for three weeks but now I am home fighting this bastard bacteria. Thankfully, I have received fantastic care at the Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Gothenburg, my hometown. So, thanks a million to all the Doctors and Nurses that have been giving me the most excellent care.”

He added that after having some operations, “I am now back home and the numbers are all going in the right direction. Still lots of recovery and rehab in front of me.”

At the time, he said that he was in the process of getting back to “100% to be back on the drum stool” for the Las Vegas residency. But, he obviously needed some additional time. He added something to get Scorpions fans excited, stating, “We have a tremendous 2025 to look forward to, celebrating 60 years of Scorpions and many exciting gigs around the world. So, the Stinger is out and I can’t wait to see you all out there on the road.”

The Scorpions have some great songs, and it goes without saying that their decade, the 1980s, has some fantastic rock ballads.
