Waiting for new music from a beloved band can be a bit frustrating, especially if years pass without new music from said band. But, for thrash metal fans, one longtime thrash band that’s been working on a new album for years finally has a release in sight. That’s good news.

Pioneering metal band Anthrax is aiming to release their new album this September or October, according to bass player Frank Bello. The upcoming release will mark their follow-up to 2016’s “For All Kings.”

Frank Bello Confirms New Anthrax Album Coming in Fall 2025

Bello discussed the album release during an appearance at the NAMM convention, speaking with American Music Supply about his new signature Spector bass guitar.

“We have a new Anthrax record [coming out],” Bello said, “and it’s been about eight years. It’s been a while. So, we have a new Anthrax record. This bass [guitar] will be shown everywhere we go. We’re gonna start touring. The record’s supposed to come out September, October.”

Bello also said that Anthrax has “big touring plans” behind the new album. That’s nothing new for Anthrax, who are known for their massive touring efforts.

“If you know Anthrax, you know what we do. We stay on the road for quite a while,” he said. “There’s some very big shows being planned right now, which I can’t talk about, but I’m very psyched. So 2025 is the year. And I’m glad that we have this (new bass) ready in the chambers, because this bass is gonna go a long way, and I just can’t wait — I can’t wait, because I know what I have on stage. I’m very psyched about it.”

Frank Bello ‘Can’t Think of Not’ Doing Music

Bello caught up with Audio Ink Radio for an interview in 2021 and talked about what has kept the band together for more than 40 years.

“You know what it is? We are brothers,” he said in the interview. “As much as brothers have their things- and look, we’re no angels. We have our brawls. We’re like brothers, and we have arguments about writing and stuff like that. But, we all know we’ve been through a lot together.”

He added, “Look, I’ve know these guys, God, since I was 16, 17 years old, and I’ve been in the same band. I got into Anthrax when I was 17 years old. So, these guys- I spent more time with the guys in my band than I have with my family at this point. So, we all know each other pretty well, I would say, and it doesn’t make sense to rock the boat, because we write what we feel is great music for ourselves.”

Bello also said that he loves doing “live shows and connecting with the fans out there that like this band, there’s nothing like that.”

Even in 2021, Bello knew new music was ahead, stating at the time, “I can’t think of not doing this. I’m looking forward to the future. After the 40 years, I think it sets it up perfectly now for a new record, a new tour- for everything in the future. So, it’s been a great ride, man.”
