The metal men of Metallica are celebrating a new year, and they’re certainly going strong. While there hasn’t been talk of a follow-up to the band’s 2023 release, “72 Seasons,” the guys of Metallica are keeping plenty busy with other projects. Besides, since it’s been about two years since “72 Seasons” dropped, you never know if the band is secretly working on new music. It’s possible.

On Monday, January 6, Metallica took to social media to remind fans of their last chance to get in on some rare Metallica goodies for a good cause.

Metallica Are Giving Back in the New Year

Metallica have been giving back during the holidays, and they’re wrapping up their latest charity run with the Helping Hands 2024 Auction. The bidding for the auction closes on Tuesday, January 7, at noon PT.

“It’s your last chance to place your bids in the #HelpingHands2024 Auction,” the band said in a social media statement. “With live music VIP packages, sports memorabilia, fine art, gifts from fellow musicians, and of course, our very own instruments used during the show, something is sure to catch your eye.”

They added that all proceeds from this auction will help their All Within My Hands Foundation, to “support workforce education, the fight against hunger and other critical local services.” To browse the auction, they directed fans to the Helping Hands Auction site.

Metallica’s All Within My Hands Foundation

Metallica formed their All Within My Hands Foundation in February of 2017.

“The Foundation aims to assist and enrich the lives of members of the communities who have supported the band for years, as well as encourage participation from fans and friends,” they state on the foundation’s official website. “All funds raised will be donated to a cross-section of national and local charities.” They add that, “every penny from your donations will go directly to our charity partners.”

Per the USDA’s annual Household Food Insecurity in the United States from 2022, more than 44 million people in the U.S. are dealing with hunger, including one in five children.

“While Metallica has made supporting local food banks a priority for years, the creation of AWMH and our partnerships with Feeding AmericaWorld Central Kitchen and The Farmlink Project have enabled us to take that giving to the next level,” the band added in a collective statement. They added that “food banks have been the main focus of our Day of Service and Month of Giving events and are also the primary recipients of funds raised through ticket sales while the band is on tour around the world.”

The foundation has done a lot of good in its few years since forming. In 2023, Metallica’s foundation made a donation of $250,000 to Turkey and Syria earthquake relief after the disaster killed 41,000 people. In 2020, Metallica, through their All Within My Hands Foundation, donated $350000 to organizations providing COVID-19 relief. On top of that, the band’s charity auction, such as the one they’re talking about now, have raised millions of dollars for charity. It’s heartwarming to see a band at the top of their game like Metallica still give back and in such a big way.
