While Incubus may forever seem like a young band, they’ve actually been rocking it since the mid-1990s. The alternative rock group’s most recent studio album is 2017’s “8,” and they’ve been pretty quiet the past few years, aside from touring.

That’s all about to change, though, because Incubus vocalist dropped a bombshell about the band in a March 21 interview with FluxFM.

Brandon Boyd Reveals Details on Incubus’ Future

Speaking with FluxFM, Boyd announced that the band will release their new album in October of this year.

He also confirmed that the band worked on the album with longtime producer Brendan O’Brien, who has produced other albums from the band, including 2006’s “Light Grenades” and 2004’s “…A Crow Left Of The Murder.” Of O’Brien, Boyd exclaimed, “He’s my favorite producer that I’ve ever worked with, and I’m so happy that we got to re-engage with him for this experience.”

In the interview, Boyd said that the band has the album totally finished, and it’s already mixed, mastered and “ready to go.” Right now, he said the band is working on the album’s artwork.

“The sad part about finishing the album in this day and age is that, as much as I would like to just put it out; I would love to put it out tomorrow, and we could put it out tomorrow, but it would get just lost in the shuffle of the internet, you know what I mean?” he added in the interview.

Boyd continued, “And even if… we’re going to do like setup work for it, and it’s probably going to come out in October. So, there will be a single that’ll come out before October. Probably in the next few months, there will be a single… Even with all of the setup that we’re going to do, it most likely will still get lost in the internet [laughs]. Because it’s the internet.”

Incubus’ New Album ‘Happened Really Fast’

He also said that this particular album “happened really fast, which is always a good sign for us.” Boyd also elaborated on the chart-topping band’s new bass player, Nicole Row, and sang her praises about what she is bringing to the group.

“hen an album comes together, like quickly, it means that we have gotten into a flow state of sorts,” he said. “That, and also it’s the first album we recorded, first new album, we recorded with Nicole Row, who is our new bass player. And she just she knocked it out of the park. We’re all totally in love with her, and she’s become a very fast asset to the band. We’re really, really happy that she jumped on board. So, yeah, it’s, it’s a lot of fun.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Boyd gushed over the new songs and said that the entire band is excited to get the album out. “So, personally, I think it’s a really great record, and I’m really proud of it,” he said, adding, “and all of us in the band are really proud of it. We had a wonderful time recording it.”
