Taylor Swift is one of the most popular stars in music in the world, and she’s collaborated with plenty of big-named musicians, from Shawn Mendes to Ed Sheeran to Kendrick Lamar. Those are actually just a few of the named with whom Swift has worked, but it paints a snapshot of her many collabs.
Looking at the long list of artists who have collaborated with Swift, it’s obvious that she doesn’t do too many rock collabs. That makes sense, because she’s not a rocker, by any stretch of the imagination.
But, what if Swift were to collaborate with one of rock’s biggest names? Well, one of the most legendary rock guitarists out there would like to see it happen.
Surprising Taylor Swift Collab Could Be on the Way
Guitarist Carlos Santana is known for having high-profile vocalists sing on his music. The Woodstock vet appeared on a recent TalkShopLive stream, and during the chat, he dropped the news that he would love to collaborate with Swift.
“I want to collaborate with Sting and Taylor Swift,” Santana said during the appearance.
It appears Santana has been thinking about this a while, because he has some songs picked out for Swift, including the famed “No Woman, No Cry” by Bob Marley & The Wailers, “Just Like a Woman” by Bob Dylan and “Natural Woman” by Carole King.
He also talked about Swift being an inspiration for women in music, explaining that, “I think that for many, many centuries women have gotten a bum rap from the male gaze. I’ve got to get together with my sister and take the female queen goddess to a whole other level of deep appreciation and validation.”
Taylor Swift Reflects on Her Career
In a 2023 interview with Time Magazine, Swift talked about how she felt the need to keep innovating in music. The interview was for when Swift was named the Time Magazine person of the year.
“By the time an artist is mature enough to psychologically deal with the job, they throw you out at 29, typically,” she told writer Sam Lansky in the interview. “In the ’90s and ’00s, it seems like the music industry just said: ‘OK, let’s take a bunch of teenagers, throw them into a fire, and watch what happens.”
She added, “By the time they’ve accumulated enough wisdom to do their job effectively, we’ll find new teenagers.'”
Swift also commented that, “It feels like the breakthrough moment of my career, happening at 33. And for the first time in my life, I was mentally tough enough to take what comes with that.”
