The metal men of Metallica are about a week away from the start of the latest leg of their tour, but that’s not all that’s going on in the band’s world. Let’s face it: Metallica always have something new and exciting up their collective sleeves. These guys don’t rest on their laurels, and they continue to change how metal bands are perceived across the globe.

Ahead of their tour kickoff, Metallica took to social media to announce some band news, and it has nothing to do with their tour.

‘Metallica Saved My Life’ Gets Official Premiere Date

On April 16, Metallica announced on X that the final edit of their “Metallica Saved My Life” documentary will officially premiere at the Tribeca Festival on June 11.

Plus, some of the band members, they say, “will be on hand for post-premiere conversations, exclusively for festival attendees, alongside director Jonas Åkerlund.” So, attendees could actually meet the band. Single-day tickets for the Metallica flick will go on sale starting April 29.

The Tribeca Festival “brings artists and diverse audiences together to celebrate storytelling in all its forms, including film, TV, music, audio storytelling, games and immersive,” the festival states on their website. “With strong roots in independent film, Tribeca is synonymous with creative expression and entertainment.”

They add, “Tribeca champions emerging and established voices, discovers award-winning talent, curates innovative experiences, and introduces new ideas through exclusive premieres, exhibitions, conversations and live performances.”

As for “Metallica Saved My Life,” the film’s official show description states, “For over four decades band and fans have supported each other through highs, lows, trials, and triumph – see it all in this brand new, as yet unfinished film.”

The band adds, “As a little refresher, ‘Metallica Saved My Life’ is all about you – the fans who have supported each other through highs, lows, trials, and triumphs for over four decades. And yeah, we’re in it a little bit, too.”

They add, “Those of you attending M72 shows this spring and summer have the chance to get a sneak peek of the unfinished film at most tour stops in North America.” The band also calls the show, “an exploration of our world through the lives of fans.”

Metallica on Tour

Metallica are set to kick off their 2025 North American tour on Saturday, April 19, at the JMA Wireless Dome in Syracuse, New York. The trek runs through June 29 in Denver, and offer a massive lineup of openers, including Pantera, Limp Bizkit, Suicidal Tendencies and Ice Nine Kills.

Following suit how how Metallica has performed the past couple of years, the metal band is continuing their “No Repeat Weekend” set where they perform two very unique sets over two nights in a single city. But, for this leg, Metallica will also perform one-night-only concerts in select cities, such as Houston, Syracuse, Blacksburg, Landover, Charlotte and Atlanta.

Metallica has also teamed up with the American Red Cross to host blood drives in various cities along the trek, and those who donate blood get a free exclusive shirt.
