The thing about the greatest classic rock songs of all time is that even those who aren’t big fans of rock know and love these songs. They might not even know the band that wrote and performed a song, but the second those guitar riffs and vocals chime in, they can sing along at the top of their lungs.
One of those bands that has very memorable songs that has stood the test of time is Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Foreigner. The band has scored numerous chart-topping rock hits over the years, including “Juke Box Hero,” “Feels Like the First Time,” “Double Vision,” “Cold As Ice,” “Hot Blooded” and “I Want to Know What Love Is.”
Foreigner Releases New Version of Beloved Song
Now, Foreigner has released a version of their popular song “Urgent” in a totally new way. They released a reimagined version of the song in Spanish to pay tribute to their Latin American fans. Foreigner’s Luis Maldonado performs the new Spanish-language version of the longtime hit.
“We’ve been embraced by fans in Latin America for decades,” Maldonado said in a press release. “Recording these songs in Spanish is our way of saying thank you and sharing the music in a more intimate, personal way.”
Foreigner is currently out on their 2025 South American Tour, so the timing of this release is really perfect. The tour features concerts in Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Argentina, Brazil and beyond.
Foreigner has been rocking it since the mid-1970s. They were formed by Mick Jones, Ian McDonald and Lou Gramm, but their lineup today is different. Now, Foreigner brings together Kelly Hansen on vocals, Jeff Pilson on bass, Bruce Watson and Luis Maldonado on guitars, Chris Frazier on drums and Michael Bluestein on keyboards.
“Rock & Roll Hall of Famers Foreigner still rock the charts almost 50 years into the game with massive airplay and continued Billboard ‘Top 200’ album success,” a press release states of the band’s run. “Streams of Foreigner’s hits are over 15 million per week.”
Foreigner Has New Music in the Works
Speaking with Audio Ink Radio in 2024, bass player Jeff Pilson talked about the band’s farewell tour. He said it wasn’t really a farewell.
“It doesn’t mean we’re going away,” he said. “It just means this is the end of the nine months on the road kind of touring, so that’s why it’s a farewell tour. We will still be there, and there’s some unfinished music we would love to finish up if possible, and we will perhaps will do other shows. We’re kind of working on that now. But, yes, this is the last time we’re out there for a long tour, which is bittersweet. I’m going to miss it in some ways but happy to not be traveling.”
Pilson also said Foreigner had some new music in the works. “There are a couple of songs floating around that I would love to see us finish. Maybe 2025 will give us the time to do that,” he said. “It’s very, very difficult to do that when we’re on the road. It’s just really, really hard. Then, when we have time off, people need the time off.”
