As one of the biggest rock bands out of the late-1990s and early-2000s, Creed has done a lot of cool things. They’ve topped the more than one chart with their anthemic post-grunge songs, toured the world and headlined cruses. they’ve also been going strong for decades at this point.

But, there’s always a chance for a Creed first, and the band has one coming up at the Indy 500.

Creed will actually get their own car racing in the 109th running of the Indianapolis 500, which is scheduled for May 25. The longstanding band has joined forces with Meyer Shank Racing for the No. 60 Honda via the team’s SiriusXM partnership.

So, who will drive the Creed car? It’s not Scott Stapp, the band’s vocalist. That would be pretty wild. But, the IndyCar will be piloted by Swedish driver Felix Rosenqvist and will don a spectacular livery with the Creed band logo against a black-and-papaya gradient.

The members of Creed will be at the event to take the in action, too, going to the “Greatest Spectacle in Racing” for the first time. So, it’s a first for this band that doesn’t have many firsts left.

“We are excited to attend our first Indy 500 this Memorial Day weekend,” the band said in a collective statement. “Seeing this incredible car in person will be a highlight for us. Can’t wait to be there with all the fans to cheer on Felix and the entire Meyer Shank Racing Team.”

Mike Shank, co-owner of Meyer Shank Racing, also expressed excitement about the partnership. “It’s awesome to have Creed join us for the biggest race of the year,” he said in a statement. “SiriusXM has been such a great partner in helping us bring new energy and personality into the sport through music, and to bring a band like Creed to the Indy 500 is something that we’re really looking forward to.”

So, could the Creed car win the Indy 500? All bets are off, but the car sure has a chance. Rosenqvist is a former IndyCar rookie of the year. He’s currently in eighth place in the NTT IndyCar Series standings, with two top five finishes in 2025. Looking at his full career so far, he has notched one race win and six podiums.

Of course, Creed isn’t the first rock band to enjoy a collaboration with motorsports. In 2022, heavy metal band Ghost sponsored a NASCAR Xfinity Series car driven by Bayley Currey for JD Motorsports.

Creed embarked on a high-profile reunion tour in 2024, and they’ve been filling arenas and stadium ever since. That tour will continue, too. In April, they announced added dates for their Summer 2025 North American tour after selling more than one million tickets. It’s so wild to think that this band that hadn’t reunited in years is selling so many tickets, but it just goes to show that the demand to see them is there. Now, the band will be on tour from July through late August.

Live coverage of the 109th Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge will begin at 10 a.m. ET Sunday, May 25 on Fox, Fox Deportes, the FOX Sports app, the INDYCAR Radio Network, SiriusXM IndyCar Nation (channel 218) and streaming via the SiriusXM app.
