There aren’t too many great bands from the 1970s who are still together and making music, so it’s extra special when one of them resurfaces and releases new material. Some of the biggest bands of the ’70s include Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath and the Who, so of those, not many are releasing new music. Black Sabbath, of course, even has their final show ever scheduled for this July.

Many of these bands from the ’70s have been together for more than 50 years at this point, so there comes a time when you have to hang it up. Time just catching up with everyone.

But, one beloved 1970s classic rock band is back together releasing new material, and that’s cause for celebration.

Longtime Members of 1970s Band Releasing New Album

The original Alice Cooper band is getting back together and releasing a reunion album, “The Revenge of Alice Cooper,” out June 25. Now, the group has released a new song and video for “Wild Ones,” the second single from the upcoming release.

If the song’s name sounds familiar, that’s because it was inspired by the 1953 outlaw biker move “The Wild One” starring Marlon Brando, and the track fits that vibe well, with its groovy, high-octane rhythms, soaring lead guitar and fast-paced drumming. The Coop sound like classic Alice Cooper on the song, with a raw, rash voice that fits the aura of the song.

The song’s music video gives viewers an inside look at the reunited Coop band band in the studio together, working on the song. The band members seem completely engaged in the song, and it’s refreshing to see them so excited about the release. It also appears that the band is tracking live with Cooper with producer Bob Ezrin running the boards.

“The Return of Alice Cooper” brings together Cooper with his surviving, original band members in Michael Bruce (guitar), Dennis Dunaway (bass) and Neal Smith (drums). Even though he’s not a band member, it’s worth noting that Ezrin is back as a producer, because he was the guy behind such Cooper hits as “Killers,” “School’s Out” and Billion Dollar Babies,” plus Alice Cooper’s latest solo albums.

“The Wild Ones” marks the second single released from the album, the first being “Black Mamba,” which was released in April.

Cooper is staying very busy in 2025, because in addition to the shock rocker getting back with his original band for this release, he’s still working with his current live band. He and his band are set to tour extensively this year with a co-headlining fall North American run with Judas Priest.

On the road, Cooper is back with guitarist Nita Strauss. Speaking with Audio Ink Radio in a previous interview, Strauss talked about how supportive Cooper is of her solo career. “He has been extremely supportive of my solo career and really of all the guys in Alice’s band. Everybody has side projects, and we’re all very lucky that the Alice Cooper camp is so incredibly supportive in all aspects of what we do,” she said.

“They’ll post (our projects) on social media, and Alice has done guest appearances on some of the other guys’ albums,” she added. “It’s really a blessing for us, because he doesn’t have to do any of that. He could say, ‘When you’re in my band, you’re in my band. If you want to do your own stuff, you’re on your own,’ and we’re really lucky that he’s not like that.”
