Sharon Osbourne is much more than Ozzy Osbourne’s wife. She’s also Ozzy’s longtime manager and makes sure he’s on top of his game as much as possible. It’s really difficult to imagine what Ozzy would be like without Sharon in his corner. She’s really been his rock through all of these years of metal chaos, both on a personal and professional level.
But, Sharon isn’t one with whom you want to mess. Now, she’s opening up about an incident with a band that she kicked off Black Sabbath’s final show and saying that the band’s manager is “making up” stuff about her. She sound absolutely fuming about it, too.
Sharon Osbourne vs. Band Manager
Sharon has spilling the beans on kicking a band off the lineup of the upcoming “Back to the Beginning” show, which will feature the final performances of Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne. Sharon told Metal Hammer that she had an argument with an unnamed band’s manager, and because of that, she decided not to have them play the show. She even disinvited them from the event, which is set for July 5 at Villa Park in Birmingham, England.
Could you imagine being in the band that got kicked off the lineup because of your manager? Frankly, that band should be pretty irate at their manager for messing up their chance to play such a legendary gig.
“I had a huge, huge to-do with a manager over this celebration for Ozzy and Sabbath,” Sharon said. “And it was probably the worst way I’ve felt in years. And I don’t care what this person says about me, thinks about it, because he doesn’t know me. And he’s now going around making up … lies because I threw his band off the bill.”
She added, “I don’t care what people say. Because do you know what? I don’t love them. I care about people who love me, what they say about me. You can’t care what an industry says, because you don’t love them, so how can it hurt you? It doesn’t.”
Is It Iron Maiden?
Then, Metal Hammer asked Sharon a smart question. Was the band Iron Maiden? It’s known that Sharon had a fight with singer Bruce Dickinson during the 2005 Ozzfest tour. She answered, “Oh God, no. Ozzy only has respect for the guys in Maiden. And he didn’t even know what Bruce was doing [during Ozzfest]. I never told him, until the night that it happened when it was the last show, and he just looked at me and goes, ‘You’re terrible.'”
So, was Sharon talking about Tool? The reason some people thought it was Tool is because the band’s name wasn’t on some of the promotion of the livestream that was announced for the show. But, that wasn’t the case, because that incident was just due to a design problem, and since then, Tool’s moniker has been added.
Sabbath’s final show will feature sets from Black Sabbath and Ozzy’s solo band, as well as Metallica, Tool Guns N’ Roses, Slayer, Pantera, Alice in Chains and many other rock and metal bands and artists.
